Hooray! You are the proud owner of a beautiful area rug, be it wool, synthetic or natural fiber.
The following tips help ensure your investment keeps looking it's best for years to come.
Wool area rugs enjoy being vacuumed with suction only. A rotating brush sucks up the finer fibers and can make your area rug wear thin and look older than it is.
If your area rug has fringes, it is best to vacuum side to side. That way the fringes don't get caught in the vacuum and possibly unravel. If your fringes do get to worn or stained Luv-A-Rug can either add new fringes or remove them completely.
Synthetic area rugs are made from a man made fiber and have no objections to a rotating brush vacuum.
To get the most dirt out of your area rugs, wool or synthetic, first turn them over and vacuum the back with the rotating brush. This pushes the dirt to the top of the fibers and when you vacuum the top the appearance of the rug can improve a lot.. Vacuuming should be done slowly and the suction area should just touch the top of the fibers to achieve maximum cleaning results.
Using the right pad under your area rugs protects not only your area rug, but your floor as well. To find out if your area rugs will scratch the floor rub your knuckles along the back of the area rug. If it scratches you, it will scratch the floor. Pad acts as a shock absorber and prevents your area rug from warping out of shape. Firmer pad is needed for area rugs on carpet as to prevent wrinkling or stretching out of shape.
